Hey Thanks for joining, you have just joined the best fantasy sports league imaginable. As time passes you'll see why.
I wanted to make a simple HOWTO for the new owners to lessen the load of repeating myself and save everyone some time. Not only those thoughts but also to give you a simple set of tools/understanding of the system to get you on your way.
- Understand you should login into mockmlb.proboards.com at least once a week and check out to see Free Agency and/or any news. If you don't login according to such standards deemed essential, you are subject to replacement as determined by the commissioner/LM. These decisions are case-by-case much like any Judgment you might expect in a realistic fair world.
- Rosters are maintained on proboards, via Master Roster File ..espn is just scoring. Espn max rosters (their limits) = 40 starters. The roster sizes in our league are 50-60 range only...this means the "Players" tab can be deceiving for who is available.. So please reference the Master Roster File for Free Agent Pickups.
- If you want to bid on someone you must have A) enough roster spots available - if you are over you may release/buyout players to make room on your roster...these come with salary cap hit of 1yr minimum for buyouts, and full contract hit for releasees B) Cap Space available (Salary cap by year is listed at the bottom of the master roster file) - If you are over cap there are Vet Exceptions you can use to sign players (Other exceptions starting in 2011).
- To ensure owners aren't being taken advantage of and not salary dumping we strictly enforce a 125% Salary matching for trades. This is simple, all you do is add up the total salaries for the players being traded from each team ...take the smallest out going team total and multiply by 125% to see what the maximum incoming salary can be. If the Larger Outgoing salary is less than this 125% number then the trade is valid and can be executed.
----
This is a simple "howto" for our league hopefully this gets you started for now.. The best thing to do is read the rules just once and reference them if questions arise later. Once read you will know the game and can better strategize your team for future and current success!!!
Welcome and thanks again!
